Bogota and Quindio (Coffee Axis)

10 Days

Colombia is a country of contrasts. From snowy white peaks to brilliant coral reefs, it has an extraordinary array of biological diversity, climates, cultures and people. Due to its great wealth of natural resources, the country has a privileged position that requires the consolidation of an environmental policy on preservation and recovery. The arts in Colombia are establishments that are cemented by renowned figures such as Fernando Botero and Gabriel Garcia Marquez; yet a new generation of artists is emerging with an unstoppable force. Lastly, Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) rights in Colombia have progressed since consensual homosexual activity was decriminalized in 1980 with amendments to the Criminal Code. Between February 2007 and April 2008 three rulings of the Constitutional Court granted registered same-sex couples the same pension, social security and property rights as for registered heterosexual couples. Law reforms in the 1990s equalized the age of consent at 14 for both homosexual and heterosexual sex. Join us in this Colombian journey that focuses on these issues while providing participants with an insider perspective into the coffee industry.
